The need for private enjoyment of backyard space overlooked by two-story neighboring houses drove the design of this custom landscaping project.
Starting literally from nothing, Quality 1 worked hand-in-hand with the owner to design landscaping that afforded privacy, minimized maintenance and provided space for entertaining.
To help provide screening, Quality 1 built up terraced walls along the property line to give a boost to mid-size evergreens. "We went with bigger trees, evergreens, and a couple of walls to raise the trees 4-5 feet above the fence," notes Quality 1's Arturo Hurtado. "They've somewhat mature, but have a lot of growing to do."
Because the owner wanted to minimize the lawn area, three kinds of rock were used to redifine the yard space. Small crushed rock was used to create a walking path demarked by brick pavers. Bigger ox-rock was used to differentiate the space outside the path.
"In center of lawn we put in a natural stone patio to be used as a seating area," Hurtado added.
Automatic sprinklers and drip lines were also installed the project.
